Meaningful Mission
Do you want to support a mission-work that is meaningful, efficient and has a long-term
strategy? Welcome to read about Mission Barnabas’ ministry.
Meaningful, Efficient and Long-Term Mission-Work.
Through Mission Barnabas we want to put into practice the Great Commission, which
means to make Jesus known to everyone who hasn’t heard the Good News of salvation.
The Christian Church has done this in different ways through the centuries, since
Jesus gave this Commission, Mathew 28:18-20. We thank God for all that have committed
themselves to this Great Commission thorough the Church’s history, and we praise
Him for everyone who inexhaustibly continues this ministry today.
Our challenge today is to take part in, and fulfil this commission, using all the
possibilities that are available today. Therefore our thinking needs to be up-to-date.
We see how many mission-societies are working in our modern time, but with a mind
that belongs to the past. We want to respect the nationals that we co-operate with
in different countries, and we want to do it not only in word but also in deed.
What do we mean with a meaningful mission-work? The fact that makes our work meaningful
at all, is that it proceeds from God himself, it’s something he has initiated and
asked us to do. In the Great Commission Jesus says that all power in heaven and on
earth is given unto him. This means that he is Lord of universe and he says that
this is the reason why we shall go out and make disciples of all nations. The Bible
tells us that one day he will gather together in one all things in Christ, Ephesians
1:9-10. Can anything be more meaningful than to take part in and prepare for this?
For us it’s obvious that it’s important to give the whole gospel to the whole human
being. At the same time we want to say that our work is meaningful because our priority
is to reach out to those who haven’t heard the gospel. This we are doing through
our friends in the different countries. The gospel gives meaning to life and it lifts
people out of social misery.
Our work is efficient because we train and encourage and give tools to those who
are the best ones to reach their nations with the gospel, and that is the nationals.
So together with you, our partner, we indirectly reach out to hundreds of thousands
of people with the gospel. In Acts 19:9-10 we read about Paul that he during two
years was teaching in the school of Tyrannus and through this all who lived in the
province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
How did it happen? Did everybody come to hear him? Obviously not, but all who heard
him went out and told what they had heard. Paul teaches Timothy and says; and the
things that you have heard of me among many witnesses, the same you shall commit
to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 2Timothy 2:2
An important reason why you support an efficient work through Mission Barnabas is
that we are working on a small scale and that much work is done voluntarily. We have
no expensive administration and we don’t use mission money just for field-visits
and inspections. All travelling is for pure mission-work and any project-visit is
combined with this.
The reason why our work can be regarded as long-term mission is that we go on year
after year. Many people have been trained for mission and big amounts are invested,
but too many of them will come back after two or three years and some of them don’t
continue. The causes of this can be many and we have no reason to judge, but in relation
to this our work is very much long-term. Our co-operation with and our support to
our partners in different countries are on a long-term basis.
We recommend you to support our mission-work that is meaningful, efficient and long-term.
